Daredevil: The everyday heroics of an army officer

From being a commando in the elite NSG to leading a company in the militancy affected areas of J&K and the north-east, Jammu lad Col Ravi Kumar Gargotra has done it all.

Showing daredevilry in the advanced stage of his career, the officer performed a high risk activity of STIE (Small Team Insertion and Extrication) which is a specialized operation carried out by the Special forces during 33rd Raising Day celebrations of the NSG in 2007 when he was a team commander in the NSG.

The officer has shown daredevilry when he was the flag bearer of the Indian national flag during an International Event.

Col Ravi Kumar Gargotra is an alumnus of Sainik School Nagrota and OTA, Chennai. He was commissioned into 6 Jammu & Kashmir Light Infantry.

Presently the officer is a Dy Force Cdr since 2017 after successfully completing command of the operationally sensitive Rashtriya Rifles. In a distinguished military career, spanning two decades, he has tenanted important Command appointments incl Company Commander in J & K and North East, Commanding Officer of 4 Rashtriya Rifles in Bhaderwah, J & K with distinction. The officer has diverse experience of operating in counter insurgency environment of J&K, Punjab and North East.
