Special Summary revision of electoral rolls held in Reasi

Political representatives informed about procedure for filing claims

REASI: District administration Reasi today informed the political parties about the procedure for filing claims and objections with regard to special summary revision of electoral rolls in the district.

The representatives of political parties, during a meeting held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC)  Shiv Kumar Gupta,  were told that the special summary revision of electoral rolls is commencing from September 15-2015 with   January 1-2016 as the qualifying date.

The representatives were apprised that the claims and objections can be filed from September 15, 2015 to October 14 -2015 before the concerned Booth Level Officer (BLO) Assistant Electoral Officer Electoral and Registration Officer (ERO) (AEO).

The persons who are permanent residents of J&K State and will attain the age of 18 years as on 1-1-2016 or who have already attained the age of 18 years but not registered in the electoral rolls can file their applications on form No. 6 for inclusion of their names in the electoral rolls, they were further told.

It was further informed that the persons who are already registered in the electoral rolls but their names are not correctly spelt can also apply on form no. 8 for correction. The persons who are not the permanent residents of J&K can also enroll themselves as non-permanent resident voters. The application on the prescribed forms i.e. for no. 6,7,8 and 8-A for addition, deletion, correction and transposition respectively as the case may be can be filed with the BLOs/AEROs and EROs concerned.

The political parties were requested to appoint BLAs of their respective party so that the revision exercise is carried out jointly by the BLOs and BLAs effectively. They were also requested to give wide publicity to the revision programme at gross root level through their party cadres so that no quarter is left un-aware.
