Srinagar soon to see a high-tech indoor stadium

The government is considering developing a high tech indoor stadium in the summer capital to revitalize sports activities in the region. The stadium will be on private public partnership mode as told by the sources. The government also mulls remodeling of the Bakshi stadium.
Minister for Youth Services and Sports told that the government is planning to develop a high tech indoor stadium at Srinagar on the pattern of existing facility in the Jammu region. He added that a sum of Rs. 40 Crore has been estimated for the remodeling of Bakshi Stadium in Srinagar.
This was announced in a meeting held between the Minister and a team of Sports personalities led by well-known commentator Charu Sharma. Inspector General of Police, Kashmir SJM Geelani and other officers were also present on the occasion.
Charu told the Minister that the State has huge Sports potential and that needs to harnessed in a big way. Kashmir has produced cricket players like Parvez Rasool and there immense potential in the region. The Minister assured that every possible help will be provided in order to promote the sports and athletic activities including organizing of sports events and tournaments in cricket and football disciplines. The Minister also urged upon the sports personalities to provide their expert guidance in development of sports infrastructure and coaching to make the local youth reach new heights.
