Students arrested for beating Examination Superintendent
Udhampur, December 07: Students of Government Higher Secondary School in Panchari were arrested on Saturday for beating up two of their exam superintendents .
As per media reports, the students beat up the examiner as they had been caught cheating during the ongoing board examination. Pertinently, Class XII exam was underway since last fortnight in areas falling under the winter zone.
It was last exam on Saturday and as soon as the examiner distributed the question paper, some local residents who had gathered outside the examination centre started sending matter inside for students to copy. The centre invigilators during supervision caught some students copying and objected to it after which a heated exchange of words happened and students started beating exam superintendent Ravinder Kumar and deputy superintendent Rajiv Singh.
Both these two invigilators were deputed at the school for exam duty.
On receiving the information, police arrived on the spot and four students along with a contractual lecturer were arrested. The lecturer was arrested for allegedly providing copying material to students.
Meanwhile, the All J&K Plus 2 Lecturers’ Forum has taken up the matter with the Senior Superintendent of Police and Superintendent of Police, Udhampur. A case has been registered with the Udhampur police and it has started investigation into the matter.
The incident was also brought to the notice of the Chief Education Officer, Udhampur by the lecturers’ forum. The forum has demanded action to be taken against the erring students.
