Jammu and Kashmir News
Jammu, June 28 : Aspirants across the state were elated over the commencement of admission process for undergraduate programmes, but the alleged refusal by banks to receive the challans for the same gave them a shock.
Enraged students claimed that the banks were not informed by the concerned authorities to collect the admission fee challans. An intense drama followed in almost all the colleges in the winter capital of the State. The banks however, claim that no such directions were given to them.
In fact, on the website of the Higher Education Department, after filling the admission form, there is a specific mention of the fee that is to be deposited in the bank, however, there is no reference of the bank where it is to be deposited. This has left the students perplexed.
The online admission process has been initiated by the authorities for the convenience of students, but at the same time, confusion related to deposition of challans in a particular bank is not clearly specified.
When contacted, Dr Ajeet Angral, Principal, GGM Science College, and nodal principal, stated that the authorities didn’t feel the need to tell the J&K Bank branch in advance about depositing challans of aspirants. Since the online admission process has begun, challans are being submitted at J&K Bank branches. He has assured that there is no need for students to panic as banks will collect challans.
