Kargil: Fresh flash floods in Hunderman Brok and Maal, Lankarchey Brok and Thang and Ichu-Shargandik, Kochik, Thulus and Pursa occurred due to which, irrigational canals, lands, livestock, Pashmina Goat, roads and trees and in Shargandik the CAPD Store has been washed away. People of border district Kargil are facing problems due to flash floods from the last one month.
According to reports people of these areas demanded immediate restoration of the damaged irrigational canals, need of construction of protection walls along waterways, compensation for trees and crops as well as live stocks.
Due to sudden rise in temperature there is flood like situation all over Kargil as the rise in temperature leads to melting of snow abruptly which ultimately leads to Flash floods and to look into the matter and the growing concern of Flash floods, Acting Chief Executive Councillor (CEC) Aga Syed Abass Razvi called a meeting of district officers and councillors in which Executive Councillor Syed Mujtaba, Deputy Commissioner Kargil Hassan Khan and other district officer attended.
During the meeting Acting CEC directed the concerned officers to start restoration works on war footing basis particularly of Irrigational Canals.
A team of officials led by Dy SP SDRF Kargil along with Councillor Shakar Zakir Hussain visited the famous Shashi Lake after news of sudden leakage, arising threat to the villagers of Sandoo, Sanjak, Kharboo, Lhalung etc.
The team assured locals of area for immediate solution for stopping the leakage for which the councillor announced that from tomorrow two JCB’s and Trippers will be engaged.
While contacted Councillor Zakir Hussain he said that if the leakage is not stopped on time, there is apprehension of huge damage from the Lake, on the patterns of Phuktal and added that people need not to panic but should be alert as precaution.
Zakir also added that MLA Kargil Haji Asgar Ali Karbalie called upon Divisional Commissioner Kashmir and briefed about the situation on which Div Com directed DC Kargil to assess the situation tomorrow.
In the meantime Councilor Poyen Liyaqat Ali today called upon the Deputy Commissioner Kargil Hassan Khan and requested for relief and rehabilitation works at Hundarman Brok where people have suffered huge lose in the form of agriculture land, trees and the most expensive damaged to Apricot trees which are the main source of their income.
Hassan Khan assured the Councillor that immediate steps will be taken n priority basis.
