Sunil inaugurates seminar on ‘Future trends in IT – Challenges & Implications’

BHADERWAH, NOVEMBER 5 – With an aim to create awareness about new trends in IT sector, Department of Computer Science and Information Technology, Bhaderwah Campus University of Jammu today organized  a seminar on “Future trends in IT – Challenges and Implications” at Lal Deed auditorium in Bhaderwah campus.

Minister of State for Public Works (R&B) and Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma was the chief guest on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, the Minister said that the Government of India is working tirelessly for the vision of Digital India to make the life smoother and easier.

He further said that e-Governance has changed the way in which people used to participate in government activities.  The optimum use of IT can be witnessed from the fact that a WhatsApp group has been created in Kishtwar having all the legislators, district officers and citizens who discuss the crisis situation and issue directions in the group for immediate redressal of problems, he added.

The Minister directed Deputy Commissioner, Doda to identify area for the establishment of Village Knowledge Centre which will benefit farmers and educated youth by obtaining desired information and their feedback for framing policies and taking other welfare measures.

On the demand of inclusion of Science subjects in the University, the Minister asked Rector to prepare a blueprint for developing Bhaderwah campus as a model campus. He assured that the matter of developing Bhaderwah campus as centre of quality learning will be taken up with the Minister of Human Resource Development.

The Minister directed Executive Engineer PWD Division Bhaderwah to submit the proposal of the completion of approach road to the University campus without any delay.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner highlighted the revolution brought by the IT sector in the field of commerce, health, communication and weather forecasting and said the developments in the field of IT has strengthened the democratic set up in the country.

The use of IT in recent initiatives of the Government like mygov.in and Direct Benefit Transfer scheme has brought transparency, accountability and effectiveness in the public service delivery.

Deputy Commissioner, Doda Bhupinder Kumar, Rector Bhaderwah campus, University of Jammu, G M Bhat, Prof Pawnesh Abrol, Co- Convener of the seminar, Sourab Shashtri, researchers and students attended the seminar.
