Supreme Court Orders Private Labs Not To Charge Money For COVID-19 Test From Patients


New Delhi, April 8: Supreme Court of India in a historical Judgement ordered Private labs not to charge money for COVID-19 test henceforth-with.

A Bench of Justices Ashok Bhushan and S Ravindra Bhat asked the government to explore the feasibility of a mechanism to reimburse private labs for Coronavirus tests so that citizens don’t have to pay for it.

“Don’t allow private lbs to charge a high amount for tests. Create a mechanism for reimbursement (of private labs) from the government”, justice Bhushan suggested.

Solicitor General, representing the central government told the court that he will take instructions in this regard.
