Jammu, October 22: During investigating over the October 09 Udhampur Attack, police has alleged that a suspended policeman is the brain behind the attack. The suspended cop has been identified as Jasbir Singh, a resident of Laddan in Udhampur and was posted in Udhampur only. He was suspended for having a ‘dubious service record’.
As per media reports, it is Jasbir who planned the entire incident and then hired the people of “maya gang” to execute the plan. Maya gang is headed by a nepali citizen Varinder Singh, alias Kaka who at present lives in Shiv Nagar in Udhampur. Police has arrested nine people during the investigation which also includes the arrest of mastermind Jasbir Singh.
The nine accused arrested have been identified as Jasbir Singh; Rahul Sharma, Suneet Singh and Rameshwar Singh, alias Guchhu, all the residents of Sambal; Sandoor Singh of Gool; Danish, alias Pamma, of Dewak, Udhampur; Harish Singh Katoch of Bhimdassa, Gool; Balbahadur Singh alias Abbu of Moungri; and Varinder Singh, alias Kaka.
Further investigations have revealed that Jasbir Singh was in touch with one Amit, who is believed to have thrown a petrol bomb on the truck and is still absconding.
Surinder Gupta, Deputy Inspector General, Udhampur-Reasi range said, “The nine arrested accused have been booked under Sections 307, 336, 436, 147, 148, 120-B and 427 of the RPC and 3/5 of the Explosives Substances Act. A special investigation team headed by Additional Superintendent of Police Mohan Lal Kaith is on toes to nab other accused, who are on the run.”
“We have sufficient evidence, including CCTV footages, against the accused. Their previous crime history has also been put on record and accordingly the Public Safety Act (PSA) has been slapped against all nine arrested so far,” said Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Deputy Commissioner, Udhampur.
