Swach Bharat Mission is a collective Responsibility: Kavinder Gupta
Speaker J&K Legislative Assembly and MLA from Gandhi Nagar Constituency, Kavinder Gupta on Friday toured the rural belt of his constituency. He toured Jeevan Nagar, Mahakali Nagar, Gadhi Garh, Upper and Lower and interacted with people at these places.
The Speaker was accompanied by SDM, South, Shahid Mehmood; BDO, Satwari, Shafqat; X-En, PWD, Abdullah; X-En, PHE, Ashok Sharma; X-En, PDD, Arvind Chibber; X-En, I&FC, Anil Sharma and other field staff of these departments.
The Speaker convened various public grievances camp cum awareness camp at these places to take first hand appraisal of the problems and demands of the people and also to make them aware about the various welfare programs being run by the government so that they can avail maximum benefit.
People of the area apprised the Speaker about various problems being faced by them which included lack of transport facility, Scarcity of drinking water, unhygienic surroundings and projected some demands for installation of electric poles, establishment of medical facilities, and macadamization of roads.
While addressing the people, Speaker said that unhygienic surroundings is always self created, it needs a inner introspection, “Swach Bharat Mission” is the flagship program of the Government of India, he added. And the government is extending every possible help to make it a success, but for that everyone of us have to contribute as it becomes our collective responsibility to keep our surroundings neat and clean.
Responding to the other problems, Speaker said that macadamization of roads have already been started with an estimated expenditure of around 40 cr. for the Gandhi Nagar Constituency and it will be completed by the month of June and the quality of roads will be excellent this time, he added.
On the issue of transportation, Gupta took a dig on the previous NC-congress regime and said that he is aware of the fact that these areas lack transport facility from a long time and nothing has been done due to the unpretentious attitude of the previous government. Gupta told them that he has already taken up the matter with the transport minister and the facility will be provided to them very soon.
The Speaker directed the SDM to furnish details with him regarding working of PHC’s and CHC’s of the area and their staff strength, he also directed the officials of PDD and PHE to work with strict adherence and solve the issues related to electricity and water supply at the earliest. Gupta further appealed to the locals that they should also cooperate with the concerned departments and should take part and aware others regarding the implementations of community development programs. Prominent among others were Vinay Gupta, Jaideep Sharma, Pt. Ashok Khajuria, Baldev Billoria, Satpal Chowdhary, Varinder Jeet Singh, Er. Ashwani Khosla, Vijender Dutta who accompanied the Speaker.
