An awareness rally and Cleanness drive regarding Swachh Jammu University Abhiyan was organized by the Department of Students Welfare, University of Jammu. Swachh Jammu University Abhiyan is a part of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan which was officially launched in the University Campus on 25th of September, 2014 and University of Jammu has been declared as Polythene Free Zone as per the direction of Hon’ble High Court.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Prof. Sharma, called for generating awareness among the masses for cleanliness and also sought societal support for the cause.
He further said that outer cleanliness can be achieved only when our inner selves are clean and that can be achieved by changing our habits. He stressed on having self introspection so as to achieve overall cleanliness.
Vice Chancellor exhorted upon the University fraternity to devote at least one day in a month towards the cause of cleanliness.
Prof. Sharma after flagging off the rally led the campaign and took a complete round of campus. Vice Chancellor also announced best worker award for cleanliness.
The rally was divided into five groups and each group had the round of various teaching departments and their surrounding area which they have allotted to clean under the supervision of their conveners.
A NUKAD NATAK was also staged by the students of the KC Public School, Jammu and a group song on Swachhta Abhiyan was also presented by LMB Public School, Jammu. They were highly appreciated by one and all present.
After taking round of the campus the Faculty Members, Employees, Scholars and Students under the leadership of Prof. P.k.Srivastava, Prof. Renu Nanda, Prof. Yash Pal, Dr. Shabana Azmi and Dr. Deepika Slathia, divided into five groups to clean the whole University Campus. More than 25 garbage bags were filled and disposed off at proper places.
Prof. Pankaj K.Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare and Convener, Swachh Jammu University Abhiyan Committee, University of Jammu, delivered the welcome address whereas Prof. Renu Nanda, Swachh Jammu University Abhiyan Committee, presented the Vote of Thanks.
The programme was compeered by Zain-ul-Abdeen Bandey.
Among others Prof. Neelam Saraf, Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. Posh Charak, Dean Research Studies, Rectors, Directors, Officers, Teaching Faculty, Staff of JUTA, JUNTEA and JUNGEA, Scholars and Students, also took part in the rally and Cleanliness drive with great enthusiasm.
