Taj directs closure of illegal, unlicensed medical shops


SRINAGAR: Minister for Health & Medical Education, Mr. Taj Mohi ud Din today directed crackdown of illegal and unlicensed medical shops in the State. He directed closure of all such medical shops which are run illegally and by unauthorised and unqualified persons.
The Minister gave this direction while chairing a meeting to review the status of health institutions in the Valley.
MLA, Khansahib and former Minister, Hakim Mohammad Yaseen was also present in the meeting.
The Minister said 172 such illegal medical shops have been sealed so far and directed the officers to intensify the drive. He said the Department has already started doing Prescription audit at peripheral hospitals to know if there is any nexus between these medical shops and the doctors prescribing these medicines.
The Minister directed consolidation and completion of health infrastructure immediately so that the same is put to use by the public.
Mr. Taj also directed strengthening of Sub District Hospital, Khansahib so that people of far flung areas of Budgam district don’t have to come down to Srinagar for treatment.
The Minister also directed providing transport, medicine and nonstop power supply, preferably Solar power, to all the SDHs, health centres and hospitals in Khansahib area.
Commissioner-Secretary, Health & Medical Education, Mr. Gazzanfar Hussain; Director, Health Services, Kashmir, Dr. Saleem ur Rehman; Mission Director, NRHM, Dr. Yashpal Sharma and other officers were present in the meeting.
