Taj directs immediate shifting of MCH Sopore to Sub-Dist Hospital
Revives medical facilities in the town
SOPORE: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Mr. Taj Mohi-ud-Din today directed for immediate shifting of Mother and Child Health Centre (MCH) Sopore to Sub-District Hospital Sopore premises in view of the paucity of space and also asked for starting work on new building of MCH Centre, Sopore.
The directions came during a visit of the Minister to the town and review of the health infrastructure to the people of the town.
The Minister visited Sub District Hospital Sopore and reviewed its functioning with the concerned officers and doctors. It was in the course of review meeting that the Minister directed shifting of MCH Centre to the Sub District Hospital.
Mr. Taj asked the doctors to strengthen the primary and secondary health care facilities so that patients from rural and peripheral areas don’t have to rush to tertiary care hospitals with non serious ailments. During the course of the inspection, the Minister was given a briefing about the functioning of the sub district hospital. He was told that during the 8 months of current year (from January to August 2014) 2.71 lakh patients visited the sub district hospital and 1.41 lakh diagnostic tests were conducted at the hospital. During the same period, it was given out, that 1175 major surgeries were conducted at the hospital and also 1570 deliveries were done.
Director Health Services, Kashmir Mr. Saleem-ur-Rehaman, former MLA, Haji Abdul Rashid, SDM Sopore and officers of health and other departments were present in the meeting.
