Tangible change would be visible on ground soon: Veeri
SRINAGAR, MAY 14: The Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri today said that the Government is taking various short, medium and long term measures to provide accountable, transparent and corruption-free administration at all levels. “J&K has voted for change, and we assure our people that the change they are aspiring for will be soon visible on the ground”, he said.
Addressing a public meeting at Khannabal, Anantnag, Veeri reiterated the commitment of the coalition government to ensure balanced development of all the three regions of the State. He said PDP-BJP coalition government would ensure that the governance agenda worked out by it is implemented on the ground in letter and spirit and people get the much-needed relief on all the fronts. He sought people’s cooperation in translating into reality the Government’s commitment to provide responsive and responsible governance. “We would welcome regular public feedback on the policies and programmes of the Government so that course-corrections, if any, are made accordingly,” he said.
The Minister called upon the people not to give heed to the propaganda of vested interests, whose only motive is to create wedge among the masses for their personal gains. “The government led by Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed has embarked upon a comprehensive developmental programme across the State and tangible results would be seen on the ground soon”, he asserted.
Veeri assured the people that their genuine demands will be given due consideration and redressed in a time bound manner. He appealed the Sarpanchs and Panchs to work in close coordination with the local administration for the implementation of various welfare and flagship development programmes in their respective areas. He said coalition government is keen to uplift the socio-economic condition of the people and the infrastructure rebuilding at the grassroots level will pave the way for rapid growth and progress.
Veeri said the mis-governance and mismanagement by the previous regime has landed the State into a virtual financial crisis and various steps are being taken to clear the mess and mark a new beginning. “Our Government would make new strides and lay strong edifices for peaceful and economically sound Jammu and Kashmir”, he said adding that the intension of the government is to take the State to the new heights of prosperity and stability.
Addressing to the gathering, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister, Mr. Abdul Haq said the Government would set into motion a golden era of development for J&K. He said every possible resource is being mobilized and pooled to provide basic facilities to the people with focus on equitable opportunities of development and uniform justice to poor, backward and hilly areas. He said Government is abreast with the problems of the people and no stone will be left unturned to redress their grievances.
The Minister thanked the people for their help to restore tranquillity and law and order in the State. “Peace is prerequisite for the development and prosperity”, Haq said and appealed the people to play their role in maintaining harmony between various sections of the society and the regions in the State. He asked the people to continue extending their support to the present regime to seek prosperity.
Legislators Abdul Rahim Rather, Mohammad Farooq Indrabi, Vice Chairman Wakf Council Peer Mohammad Hussain, General Secretary PDP Rafi Ahmad Mir, Chief spokesperson, Dr Mehboob Beg, Former Legislator and Political Advisor to PDP President, Peerzada Mansoor and Chief Coordinator, PDP, Sajad Mufti also addressed the gathering and highlighted the programmes and policies initiated by the government for the betterment of the people of the State.
