No woman candidate contesting
Jammu, April 2: The analysis of Criminal, Financial and other Background details of all the fifteen Contesting Candidates in Lok Sabha Bye-Elections in Jammu & Kashmir released today, by ADR & Head J&K Election Watch (JKEW) S. Balvinder Singh, shows that 5 candidates out of 15 are crorepatis whereas the average assets of the candidates contesting bye election is Rs. 5.10 crores.
Tassaduq Mufti, PDP Candidate, is the richest candidate, amongst the fifteen candidates contesting in Lok Sabha bye election to be held on 9th and 12th of April this year, having his declared assets of Rs. 35 crores (both moveable and immoveable), Ghulam Ahmad Mir of INC, is the second richest with total assets of Rs.15 crores while Farooq Abdhullah President National Conference and candidate contesting Lok Sabha bye Election from Srinagar, lags behind Tassaduq Mufti by 21 crores, and stood at third with the total assets of Rs.14 crores, both moveable and immoveable, while Gh Hassan Dar of IND who is contesting against Farooq Abdullah stood at 4rth place with the assets of Rs. 8 crores.
While three candidates who are also trying their luck in this Lok Sabha by Election have declared their assets only in few thousands. Mehraj Khourshid Malik of IND contesting from Srinagar, Ghulam Mohamad Wani of All J&K Kissan Mazdoor Party contesting from Anantnag and Sajjad Ahmad Dar of IND contesting from Anantnag have declared both their moveable and immoveable assets of Rs.51,000, 30,000, & 26,000, respectively.
Seven (47%) candidates have declared their education qualification between 10th pass and 12th pass, while 6 (40%) candidates are graduate or above. One candidate has not declared his education qualification whereas 1 candidate is illiterate. 60% of the contesting candidates are in the age group between 25 to 50 years, while 33% are between 51 to 70 years. 1 candidate has declared his age to be above 80 years.
As per the data analysed there are six candidates who are re contesting in Lok Sabha Bye Election in jammu & Kashmir. One candidate Namely Ghulam Ahmad Mir, who had contected From Doru Constitution last time, has registered 18% growth in his assets which rose from 13,47,30,920 in 2014 to 15,91,23,720 in a span of three years. Farooq Abdhullah has shown the growth of only one crore. There is one candidate, Nazir Ahmad Khan, who contested from Beerwah Constituency in 2014, has shown a decrease from 59 lacs to 26 lacs.
As per the data released no political party gave tickets to woman candidates. There are also no candidate who have declared any criminal cases against themselves.
