New Delhi: The DTH market has recently seen a lot of action, especially after the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) came in with the new regulations. While the intention of the new regulations was to make the entire DTH and cable TV sector more transparent and fair, it ended up raising overall costs. To adjust the prices and ensure no migration to OTT platforms, all DTH operators have been offering custom channels packs at reduced prices, especially when compared to the new system. Tata Sky has also been doing the same for a while and has recently come up with revised prices for its channels.
The newly revised channel packs spotted first by Telecom Talk, carry revised pricing and updated channel lists. Beginning with the Gujarati Regional pack, the revised plan now offers five channels instead of four channels. The additional channel does increase the price too – instead of the older price of Rs 7 per month, the new pricing stands at Rs 8.49.
On the other hand, the Tamil Family Sports Pack offers an additional channel, increasing the total number of channels to 77. However, this pack now comes at a lower price of Rs 254.27. Similarly, the Telugu Family Sports Pack now costs Rs 282 and also gets one extra channel. Tata Sky also altered other channel packs such as the Kannada Family Sports HD, Malayalam Family Sports HD, Hindi Starter, Hindi Starter HD, Kannada Smart Plan and others.
