Tata Steel IGU North Zone Golf Tournament in Jammu concludes


JAMMU – Tata Steel Indian golf union North Zone Sub-Junior and Feeder Tour golf tournament held in Golf Course, Sidhra today concluded.
Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu was the chief guest on the occasion while Director Tourism Jammu Soujanya Sharma and members of JK Golf Association were present.Div Com GOF-16-1
Over one hundred participants drawn from all over the country participated in the tournament. This mega event not only provided a boost to the tourism industry but also enabled the young Golfers an opportunity to test waters and compete with ace Golfers of the country.
This event was also part of Baisahkhi festival for which Director Tourism took personal initiative and made the event a grand success. The event was of two days that began with Tee off followed by Practice round and main tournament for which two rounds wee played.
The entire tournament was divided into four categories. This tournament is being held for the first time in Jammu and will give great boost and thrust in promoting golf among juniors in Jammu.
Mr Tanveer Malik Secretary JK Golf Association said that such a tournament will facilitate in sending a positive signal all over India and place J&K on golf arena. Div Com GOF-16a
Member JK Golf Association Shabir Ahmad Bhat in his message said that JKGA is also trying to get in the pro circuit tournaments (feeder tour ) to Jammu. He also extended his best wishes to the players who participated in this golf tournament. JKGA members SS Wazir (vice president jkga ), Sanjay Wahi, Deepak Handa, DPS Bali, KK Khosa and Simranjeet Singh Dua were also present at the inaugural event.
Sandeep Verma Director of the tournament conducted the entire event. State Sports Council  also ensured that every possible help will be rendered to JKGA for conducting camps for junior and senior players and also holding events of national and international repute.
Prizes were given to the winners by Divisional Commissioner Jammu in presence of Joint Secretary Sports Council and Director Tourism jammu.
While the best player of the tournament was from category A Prateek Malice with a score of 156 for 36 holes while Aagamvir S Anand of Jammu and Kashmir stood 2nd with a score of 159. Prateek Malik also stood 1st in B category.
In Category C Harshjeet S Sethie won with a score of 165.
Wheras in Category D Tushar Pannu scoring 160 stood first and  manjot Singh stood second.
Prizes were also given to upcoming young golfer from Jammu and Kashmir Divij Singh, Lavanya Sharma, Arsh vimal, Rasaya Tandon, Mehak Dua, Viddant handa and Ayan rafi from Kashmir.
