Convenor of Tawi Andolan and Senior Leader of BJP, Chander Mohan Sharma has expressed serious concern over ignoring Tawi River in Flood Management plan by the state government while seeking funds from the Centre under Reconstruction of Public Infrastructure. He further in his statement deplored discriminatory approach of state government while dealing issues regarding Natural Calamities. Floods in Tawi caused devastation in the villages on both sides of the river and the issue needs immediate attention and a permanent solution so as the sufferings of the affected people can be addressed. Tawi Andolan chief described it as shocking that there was no mention of River Tawi in the prior advertisement issued by the State Government which has asked Centre to provide Rs 4038 crore for Flood Management of River Jhelum and River Chenab. Sharma appealed that the State Government must immediately do holistic appraisal of Flood Control Management of River Tawi and bring Tawi, Devak and Bhaskar within the ambit proposed reconstruction plan.
