Tell The Next CM – NIKHIL. The Jammu province has only TWO MedicalColleges and associated hospitals, 6 district hospitals and a number of PHCs, Allopathic dispensaries and Medical Aid Centres.
Kashmir has been passing through very difficult circumstances since 1989 due to persistent disturbances and unrest. The Health Care Delivery System is one of the worst hit services. The exodus of healthcare professionals from the valley created a vacuum during the early 1990s adversely affecting the basic health services. The already inadequate health infrastructure further added to the miseries making the people vulnerable to various diseases and other forms of deprivation.
Coupled with lack of governance, the exodus of healthcare professionals has led to collapse of systems including the Health care delivery in general and Rural Health infrastructure in particular. Lack of specialists- Anesthesiologists, Gynecologists, Radiologists and other technical staff at District Hospitals has rendered these essential services ineffective. Some PHCs and dispensaries have become nonfunctional.
Particularly in rural areas, development in the health sector along with an improvement in civic amenities like drinking water demand attention of the next CM.
