Chandigarh, July 27: Suspected terrorists from Pakistan on Monday fired indiscriminately in Punjab’s Dinanagar town in the frontier district of Gurdaspur, leaving at least five people injured, including police officials. Incessant firing is still on at the Dinanagar Police station which has left many policemen injured and one dead.
Dinanagar town is close to the Jammu and Kashmir border.
The terrorists fired at people near the Dinanagar bus stand and then attacked the Dinanagar police station.
Eyewitnesses said that the terrorists, numbering 4-5, were in army uniforms and were carrying automatic weapons.
Police reinforcements were rushed to the spot and a counter-offensive by security forces was initiated.
High alert has been sounded in Jammu as well since Dinanagar is close to Jammu and Kashmir and keeping in mind the fact that the attack was on a bus that was enroute Jammu
