The woman who died in shelling today had gone to work on the fields

The old lady who died along with four civilians in the most recent ceasefire violation by Pakistan has been identified as Bholi Devi.

Bholi Devi was a 45 year old woman who was currently the only source of income for the family. Her husband had left the family and Bholi Devi had been running the family of two on her own, working in the fields everyday.

Pakistan violated ceasefire in Pragwal area of Akhnoor sector along the international border today and a Border Security Force (BSF) trooper was injured along with five civilians who have been reported dead including Bholi Devi who had gone for work in the morning and died in the unprovoked shelling by the Pakistani rangers.

“Pakistan Rangers started unprovoked firing at Molu post of the BSF in Akhnoor sector today (Wednesday) morning,” a senior police officer told media persons here.

“One BSF trooper was injured in the firing which started at 8.55 a.m.”

“BSF has retaliated using small arms and automatics,” he added.

“Heavy firing exchanges are still going on between India and Pakistan troops on two border posts in Akhnoor sector.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Jammu on Friday.
