Jammu: According to the information extended from the office of SSP Poonch, it has been confirmed that no such destructive episode has taken place in the district.
Earlier today, there were reports of tension gripping a village in the Poonch district of Jammu region where members of one community tried to prevent use of loudspeakers by the other community. The members of the majority community reportedly objected to the use of loudspeakers in a Hindu temple in Jhulas village of Poonch.
As per reports in Dainik Jagran and Amar Ujala, a group led by a local woman tried to intervene in order to prevent the use of the loudspeaker by the temple management. However, their entry was resisted after which the members of the two communities started sloganeering against each other in the village.
Meanwhile, the SSP Poonch, JS Johar, affirmed that the incident was made up and the rumor had been passing around spreading throughout the Jammu division when there was no basis to it. Speaking to U4UVoice, SSP Johar said,
“There was no event of sacrilege or desecration of any sorts. The rumours unfortunately have been passed around as facts. There is no prevalent communal tension in Poonch and it is an appeal to media houses not to disturb communal harmony in places where people belonging to multicultural backgrounds have lived together in peace for ages.”
It is imperative to mention here that in the last week two occurrences of desecration of temple idols in the city of Jammu saw massive uproar among the locals.
