Srinagar, July 18 : The protests and the violence that started in the Valley after the death of Hizbul Mujahideen’s poster boy, Burhan Wani, have consumed the lives of more than 42 civilians and has injured numerous locals as well as the security officials. Curfew imposed in the valley has entered its 11th day and amid complete lock down, the lives of the masses has suffered the most.
In one of the clashes between the security forces and the locals, a 15-year old girl lost both her eyes. Admitted in the SMHS Hospital Srinagar, Insha Lone is blinded for life. The team of Ophthalmologists from AIIMS have examined her, and they too have no hope for her.
One of the security men of the SSP Srinagar was beaten up brutally by the demonstrators outside his home. The agitated mob set his car on fire and deliberately injured both his eyes. The security man, Shafaqat Ahmed is undergoing treatment at the Army Hospital in Srinagar.
As per the official data, in the past 10 days, 2000 civilians and 1500 security officials have been injured. Also, 28 CRPF soldiers who were critically injured have already been operated on.
