Outgoing DIG North Kashmir Nitish Kumar on Thursday blamed Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit for the killing of off-duty Border Security Force (BSF) Constable Ramzan Ahmad Parray in Hajin area of Bandipora district.
“He was accompanied by few more militants when the killing took place,” said Kumar.
Director General of Police SP Vaid said that about four militants barged inside Parray’s home and shot him dead.
“The militants came to the BSF jawan’s residence and started shooting. He was dragged out of his house and shot,” said Vaid.
Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference Working President Omar Abdullah has termed the killing as “abominable”.
“What a terrible incident. This is abominable. Heartfelt condolences to the family of Ramazan Parray. Hope the injured recover soon,” Abdullah wrote on micro-blogging website Twitter.
Meanwhile, Parray’s father who was injured in the firing by militants is presently in a critical condition.
