Srinagar, December 25: Prime Minister Narendra Modi stunned everyone today with his surprise stoppage in Pakistan and it augurs well on the relationship front between the two nations. Mirwaiz Umar Farooq of the Hurriyat welcomed the development. The following statement is from earlier today,
“The Prime Minister of India is visiting Pakistan and the people of Kashmir have always wanted that the relations between the two nations to improve. The trust between the two nations will improve with talks. It is a welcome step wherein both the nations are trying to initiate the talks and attempting to strengthen the relations.”
He also included the Kashmir issue in his conversation with the media persons.
“The Kashmir issue can only be resolved as a result of these conversations only which should lead to both the nations getting close to each other. Both the nations should work together to resolve the Kashmir issue on a priority basis while involving the Kashmiris in the dialogue process.”
He further added, “This is exactly what is needed. We feel that both the leaderships of India and Pakistan should show the political will and courage to take the issues head-on, with Kashmir being the core issue. The leadership of Jammu and Kashmir should be involved in any efforts that are aimed at the peace process in south Asia ad bringing the two nations closer.”
