Jammu, May 5: Over the years government is trying to increase the number of students in Government Schools, Government is desperate to increase the number of students in the Schools for which government has launched many schemes such as Mid-Day Meal, free distribution of Books, study material but all these efforts are apparently going in vain.

Recently a government middle school on Masar Road came into the limelight when, authorities found out that there are only 10 registered students, but there 5 teachers in that School.

According to locals there are not even 10 students there are only 5 students who come to school, which makes the student-teacher ratio 1:1, i.e. one teacher per student. The teachers draw salary of more than 1 lakh, which again is unjustifiable.

Here, the irony is there are many schools in the districts which do not have the teachers and suffering from shortage of the teachers. This raises numerous questions regarding the policies of State Education Department and reflects the carelessness on their part.
