Three CRPF jawans attain martyrdom, 4 injured in Anantnag terrorist attack


SRINAGAR: Three Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) jawans attain martyrdom and four others were injured in a terrorist attack in south Kashmir district of Anantnag on Wednesday.

According to official sources, terrorists attacked a CRPF patrolling party on KP road in Anantnag, resulting in injuries to Five jawans, SHO Anantnag Inspector Irshad and a civilian woman also injured.

In the incident, five CRPF men and SHO Police Station Sadder Inspector Irshad Ahmad suffered bullet injuries. Besides, a woman also sustained a bullet wound in her leg.

The injured were immediately taken to district for treatment where three CRPF men including an ASI of CRPF namely Vinod Sharma succumbed to injuries, they said.

Medical Superintendent District Hospital Anantnag Dr Abdul Majeed Mehrib told that they have received five CRPF men, SHO Irshad and a woman with bullet wounds.

Medical Superintendent said that among the injured three CRPF men succumbed while Irshad (SHO) and two other CRPF men were referred to Srinagar hospital for specialized treatment.

“The jawans were immediately rushed to a hospital where two of them were declared brought dead,” they said.

The exchange of fire between militants and security forces was still going on when reports last came in.

“Additional security forces have been rushed to cordon-off the area to foil any attempts by terrorists to escape,” the sources added.
