Three day National Seminar on “Vedamulaka akhyanopakhyann Tatha Sampritika Samaja” inaugurated at JU

Jammu University (4)Jammu  : Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu today inaugurated the three day national seminar on “Vedamulaka akhyanopakhyann Tatha Sampritika Samaja” in collaboration with Maharshi Sandipani Ved Vidya Pratishthana, Ujjain (M.P) at the University of Jammu.

 

Prof. Surendra Kumar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Gurukul Kangri University, Haridwar, was the chief guest of the inaugural function and delivered the key note address. Department of Sanskrit released RTAMBHARA the souvenir of the Golden Jubilee year of the Sanskrit Department (1963-2013). Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai, Ex-HOD, Department of Sanskrit and Dean Faculty of Arts, University of Jammu a prominent Educationist and social activist was the special Guest of the function. Prof, Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, University of jammu Inaugurated the National Seminar and presided over the function.

The function started with the Vedic and Loukik Vandana followed by Lightening of the traditional lamp. Presentation of Bouquets and Mementos was made to all the dignitaries on the Dias. Prof. Ved Kumari Ghai was felicitated with a citation and shawl on being awarded Padamshri in the field of Education and Literature for the year 2013-14.

The welcome address was delivered by Prof. Sushma Devi, Head Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu. The Programme was convened by Dr. Ram Bahadur, Associate Professor, Department of Sanskrit, University of Jammu. Eighty five delegates from all over India are participating in the seminar.

 

The first academic session of said seminar started in the afternoon at Brig. Rajinder Singh Auditorium, University of Jammu. Prof Man singh, Ex-Head and Dean, Kurukshetra University Chaired the session and the convener was Prof. Sushma Devi, Head Sanskrit department, University of Jammu. Twelve papers were presented in the session on different aspects of the said topic of the seminar.

 

A Sanskrit play “Narake Kolahalama” Directed by Dr. Pratibha, Assistant Professir, Department of Sanskrit was also staged in the evening by the students of Sanskrit department, University of Jammu which was followed by Multi Lingual Kavi Goshthi. All the delegates and invitees enjoyed the programme.

 

Among others present on the occasion include Dr. Meenakshi Kilam, Director, DIQA, Sh. Jai Kumar Sharma, Special Secretary to Vice Chancellor, faculty members, scholars, staff members and students.
