Three more AIIMS in India, none for J&K
Jammu, October 09: The tale of ignorance of already politically marginalized people of Jammu and Kashmir is no news. The central government does has been putting Jammu and Kashmir at the bottom of their bucket list that always and the same was reiterated when Narendra Modi led BJP Government in the centre, announced to set up three more AIIMS hospitals different states of the country. Not a word uttered about the proposed AIIMS in Jammu and Kashmir.
As reported in a local daily, these three All India Institutes of Medical Sciences will be at Nagpur in Maharashtra, Manglagiri in Andhra Pradesh and Kalyani in West Bengal and will constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojna (PMSSY) at a cost of Rs 4,949 crore.
It is pertinent to mention here that after a widespread agitation in the state over the set up of AIIMS in the state, the Union Ministry had announced establishment of two different hospitals at both the provinces and asked the State Government to identify alternate pieces of land both in Jammu and Srinagar for the same. The government had further went on to announce that land for stting up of AIIMS has been identified but not further order was made in this regard. Seemingly, Modi government at the centre has failed to end the era of discrimination with which J&K has been coping since ages.
