Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, while describing the rehabilitation of flood ravaged people of J&K as a mammoth task ahead of the government, said that the disbursement of relief to small businessmen and the impoverished who were not having insurance cover will start from April 15. Mufti added that in his recent meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he has emphasized the issue of providing immediate relief to the flood victims.
Intervening during the Question Hour in the Legislative Council, Mufti said that the issue of compensation to small-time traders who lack insurance cover and destitute is a priority and the phase-wise disbursement of relief as planned, will begin from next week to provide some solace to these victims who were devastated by the State’s unprecedented floods in September. The Minister added that he met the Prime Minister who has assured Centre’s support to rehabilitate the victims and restoration of the public infrastructure damaged in the floods. The CM Minister said that a policy for construction of houses with strong foundation will also be framed by the Government.
