Three women thrashed with lathis over land brawl

Udhampur, July 14: Two groups brawled over a land in the Shamlat area of the district on Wednesday. As a result of the clash, three women were injured critically. They were immediately rushed to the district Hospital where they are being treated presently.
On the day of the dispute, Taro Devi (62), wife of Balak Ram, Vidya Devi (29), wife of Jugal Kishore, and Rano Devi (70), wife of Suram Chand, were out in the fields grazing their animals, when some neighborhood residents attacked them with sticks and started beating them.
As soon as the family of the victims heard about the attack, they reached the area and hurried them to the district Hospital.
The victims named Mohan Singh, Subash Singh and Keval Singh as their attackers.
As per the police, the land of Shamlat is under dispute for quite sometime. The Police at Roadhemel in Udhampur have registered the case and started investigation.
