TOP Achievers of J&K


1. Chain Singh

Chain Singh (born 5 April 1989) in J&K is an Indian sport shooter. He won the bronze medal at the 2014 Asian Games at Incheon in the men’s 50m rifle 3 positions event.  He also won six gold medals, three in individual events and three in team events in 2016 South Asian Games held at Guwahati and Shillong in India.


2. Piyush Bhagat

Piyush Bhagat was born on 30 August 1997 in Jammu and Kashmir. He traveled Mumbai, Delhi and many other places to figure out his passion. He is just 18 years old. He is a hip- hop dancer. He has a unique dance form from Gatto inside Hip-Hop. He started dancing when he was 10 years old. He came into limelight as a contestant in SONY TV show “Boogie Woogie“. Later, he came into prominence when he emerged as first runner up in Chak Dhoom Dhoom. Recently, he was seen in Dance Plus 2.


3. Meenal Gupta

Meenal Gupta is a Chess player from Jammu and Kashmir. She had brought laurels to the State by winning gold medal in the Commonwealth Chess Championship held at Waskaduwa, Sri Lanka. Meenal is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya (KV) Sunjwan and trainee of Ace Chess Academy and she won the gold medal in Under-14 category. Earlier, Meenal had won silver medal in National Schools Championship at New Delhi two years ago.

4. Ajay Kumar

Ajay Kumar, top 16 contestant of Masterchef season 5, is 23 years old. Ajay is born and brought up in Jammu and he is pursuing his graduation in Tourism. He is dedicated and amazing cook and he has easily made his place in masterchef season 5 , 2016. Ajay wanted to promote the dishes of J&K in masterchef and was ready to face all the challenges.

5. Dhananjay Singh Charak

Dhananjay Singh Charak is Body Builder, born and raised in Jammu. Dhananjay being the member of Body building Association of J&K was selected to represent India in the  Mr. Asia Body Building and Athletic Physique Championship which was held in Tashkent in USSR. Trained by Rajesh Dutta, Mr Dhananjay was the first player of J&K State who was selected to represent India. The Body Building Association of J&K is providing all kinds of facilities to Dananjay to florish in this Championship.

6. Gaurav Gupta

Gaurav Gupta is marathon man of Jammu, Born and brought up in Jammu, Gaurav was a chubby child who loved eating immensely. A businessman and a young entrepreneur, Gaurav was either working, eating or sleeping. Fitness and exercise had no space in his ‘to-do’ list. But changes took place and he achieved the label of marathon runner. He ran Airtel Half Marathon of 21kms with his knee injury and he didn’t give up.

After completing his 1st marathon he never looked back, He participated and completed a full international marathon which was held in Dubai. Now, there are no challenges that he can’t take.

7. Kavya Kochhar: The diamond of Jammu Kavya Kochhar proves to be a shimmering star of the state. The 14 year old Kavya Kochhar is working hard for her Pistol shooting and is really passionate about the sport.She totally proves her dedication towards shooting with a high zeal and practices for two hours straight after school. Being a girl she has jumped over and across all the boundaries which the society has made for females in particular.




8. Nabeel Ahmad Wani: Nabeel Ahmed Wani is proud to don Khakhi and fight the very cause which militant commander Burhan Wani espoused. Nabeel had made his region Jammu proud by topping the All India Examination for BSF Assistant Commandant (Works). He lost his father Rafiq Ahamd Wani, a teacher by profession, two years ago and had to take up a job to support his mother and sister. But despite facing hardships, his goal was clear — he wanted to “serve his nation by joining forces”

9. Saba Haji:Sabbah Haji is the Director of Haji Public School in Doda region. She was born and raised in Dubai and she completed her higher education and worked in Bangalore for almost a decade before moving back to her native Chenab Valley in 2008.

10. Akshi Sharma Walia:Akshi Sharma Walia, who has proved to be a perfect example for the women of the state to chase their dreams and live up for what they really want to do in life. The beauty got married when she was 20 and achieved her dreams after that.She had also been Miss J&K in 1999 and Miss Himachal Pradesh in 2001 and later got settled in America. She had been a keen volunteer in social work and also counsels autistic kids.

11. Sonali Gupta: Sonali Dogra, a 22 year old girl from Jammu, was the winner of Voice of Punjab season 6 on the Punjabi Television Channel PTC Punjabi. Also signed up a contract with the PTC Channel for two years and they will be giving her the opportunity for live shows.
