Tourism Police slaps fine about Rs.50, 000 on violators

Srinagar: In its efforts to keep check on violations by tourism business units, tourism police has slapped a fine about fifty thousand on Hoteliers, Dhabas, Tea Stalls vendors, Dry Fruit and Handicraft vendors.

On some complaints regarding overcharging by some people linked with tourism business, a team of J&K Police Tourism Enforcement Wing headed by SHO Police Station TRC, Inspector Suhail Rasool, under the supervision of the SSP Enforcement conducted surprise checking of various Tourist related business units at Magam, Kunzar, Tangmarg and Gulmarg. An amount of Rs. 49,500/- was realized as fine from violators under 2/28, 32 Tourist Trade Act. The violators include some Hoteliers, Dhabas, Tea Stalls vendors, Dry Fruit and Handicraft vendors etc.

Awareness programme on TT Act were also held at different places in Gulmarg. The drive will continue in future as well.
