Traffic on Jammu -Srinagar highway blocked again


Traffic on the national highway, connecting Kashmir valley with the rest of the country, was suspended again on Wednesday following fresh landslides, while Ladakh region remained cut off from valley due to closure of the Srinagar-Leh highway due accumulation of snow and slippery road conditions.

‘We have suspended traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway following fresh landslides at Anokhi fall near Battery Cheshma, 11 Kms from Ramban.on Wednesday,’ a traffic police official told.

Men and machinery have been put into service to clear the highway, he said, adding that it would take several hours to clear the slide.

The 300-kilometre long Jammu- Srinagar national highway was reopened for vehicular traffic after remaining closed for nine hours due to a massive landslide in Ramban district of Jammu and Kashmir.
