Traffic was finally restored on the Jammu Srinagar highway on Friday which had been stalled due to landslides, and heavy rains. One way traffic was restored from Srinagar to Jammu after the Border Roads Organization removed debris, and cleared the road to make it motorable.
Traffic police said that BRO officials had been working day and night to remove the debris caused by landslides. The national highway had been blocked at many places between Banihal and Peerah because of the landslides, said officials.
At many stretches incidents of shooting stones were witnessed which made the road clearing effort very risky. Several vehicles were saved narrowly after they witnessed heavy landslides which also damaged some vehicles.
