The National Highway connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country remains open for one way traffic from Jammu to Srinagar despite the heavy snowfall experienced.
Nearly six inches of fresh snowfall was recorded overnight on both sides of the Jawahar tunnel, at Shaitan Nailah and Banihal. The Border Roads Organization immediately got the snow cleared on the highway and resume the traffic. Vehicles including the ones carrying passengers and the trucks loaded with essentials left for Srinagar this morning as told by the sources. However, no vehicle from the valley is allowed from Kashmir to Jammu yet. Only one way traffic will continue till further orders.
The National Highway connecting the Kashmir valley and Ladakh remained closed on the other hand and the Mughal road connecting South Kashmir and Jammu also remained closed due to the snowfall at several places.
