Gunmen on Thursday looted at least ten lakh rupees from a bank in Pulwama district in south Kashmir, police said.
A police official said that four gunmen arrived in two vehicles and looted eight to ten lakh rupees after forcing their entry into a branch of Jammu and Kashmir Bank at Arihal.
“They barged into the bank, fired shots in air, broke computers and looted around ten lakh rupees,” he said.
The gunmen, he said, were carrying AK-47 rifles.
In another incident, unidentified persons late Wednesday night tried to rob a JK bank branch in Poshkar village of Khag in central Kashmir’s Budgam district, police said.
A senior police official said that unidentified persons broke the window of the bank but were unable to barge inside because of iron grills.
“An FIR has been lodged at Police Station Khag and the investigation has been taken up in this regard,” added the officer.
