Two accused of raping two minors in Kathua
In two separate incidents in Kathua, two minor girls have allegedly been raped, one by her father. Both the incidents happened late Tuesday night in Ward 6 and Ward 8 of Kathua town. Kathua SHO, Sanjeev Singh Salathia told that in one of the incidents, a resident of Ward 8 allegedly raped his 13 year old daughter in his house.
The incident was narrated to her aunt, by the victim, who then lodged a complaint at the local Police station. Salathia added that according to the lodged report, the victim’s elder brother was also at home. The accused works with a truck union in Kathua. A case under Section 376 of the RPC has been registered and the police has already launched the hunt to nab the accused. It was also noted that the accused ad estranged relations with his wife, who has been living at her parental house now and had left her children with their father.
In another incident reported the same night, a 25 year old youth who has been identified as Pawan Kumar allegedly raped a 10 year old girl in Ward 6. The accused was known to the victim as told in the report. The victim was offered some confectionery by him and was taken to a vacant plot in the locality where he tried to rape her, told the SHO. The victim after reaching home, narrated the entire story to her parents who lodged a complaint with us, he added. A case has been registered under Sections 376 and 511 of the RPC against Pawan Kumar.
Medical examination of both the victims has been conducted at the District Hospital in Kathua and the medical reports are awaited. “Both the accused are absconding but we will catch them soon.” added Salathia.
