Two brothers arrested for spreading rumours about militants in Janipur

JAMMU, Aug 25: The Police have arrested two brothers for spreading rumours about the militants in Janipur area which created panic in City areas. The two brothers included an Inspector working in the Power Development Department (PDD) for making a hoax call and spreading rumours about movement of militants in Janipura.

As per Media sources, SP City (North) Shiv Kumar Chouhan said that the PDD inspector to get trapped a civilian used his mobile and call PCR at 100 at about 9:30 in the morning and impersonated himself as Bashir Ahmed said that the militants had taken shelter in a house at Janipur.

After getting information, the Police immediately swung into action and cordoned off the area and also closed educational institutions in the area. Vehicular movement was also restricted on Janipur road.  After conducting search the Police did not find any traces. The Police traced the number which was traced to PDD Inspector Upinder Krishnan which sas switched off and he was fled off from the office.

In the evening, the Police arrested him and seized his mobile phone. He revealed that his brother Rakesh Kumar had made the call and Police arrested them both under Sections 419 and 505 RPC at Janipur Police Station. It was also revealed that the Upinder was staying in a house at Janipur and the owner of the house ousted him due to his misconduct and to take revenge he called the Police and told them the militants were hiding in a house at Janipur.
