Two children killed, three missing near Sonmarg; five engineers rescued by the Army after cloudburst

Dead bodies recovered at Kullan are identified as Iqra D/O Ab Majid Najar R/O Kullan
Two persons, including a 15 year old girl were killed when a cloudburst struck near Sonmarg in Jammu and Kashmir last evening and three others have been reported dead so far.
The cloudburst occurred at 6:30 PM at Kellan village near Gangangir, 76 kms from Srinagar, after which the Srinagar-Leh highway was closed for vehicular traffic. The deceased has been identified as Iqra Nazar by a police official. While, two more residents of the village were have been reported missing so far and two laborers from Gangangir haven’t been traced so far.
Four spanish and two civil engineers were rescued by the Army from this area immediately after the natural calamity.
Landslides were reported in Sonamarg area and the Army has accommodated the civilians in transit camps. A bridge on the Baltlal-amarnath yatra route caved in at Shehshnag but there was no report of any loss of life. A bus with no passenger on board was also washed away in rains.
