Two killed in Kashmir highway accident

Two people were killed when a vehicle, in which they were travelling, skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, a police spokesman said here.

He said a car, on way to Srinagar from Jammu, skidded off the road and fell into 200 to 250 feet deep gorge at Nachlana on the highway on Monday evening.

A relief and rescue operation was launched in the area despite darkness.

Two persons, identified as Mohammad Shafi Sofi and Gowhar Hussain Khan, residents of Keribal, Anantnag in south Kashmir, died on the spot.
Bodies of both the deceased have been recovered, he said.
