Two people have been killed and one seriously wounded in a knife attack in the Paris suburb of Trappes..
“Police operation on Camille Claudel street over. Individual neutralized. Please avoid the area, respect the security perimeters to let the police do their job,” the police said in a tweet.
Officials said the suspected assailant was neutralized during an operation in Trappes, a commune in the Yvelines department to the southwest of the French capital, Efe news reported, according to news agency IANS.
Islamic State issued a statement claiming responsibility for the attack. BFM TV said the attacker shouted “Allahu akbar”, but police could not immediately confirm it.
According to The Telegraph, the man was armed with several knives. In his 30s, the man reportedly shouted “Allahu Akbar” during the rampage- The Telegraph said in a report. According to La Parisien, the suspect had been known to Paris police since 2016 and was armed with several knives.
The man took refuge in a house and shouted “Allahu Akhbar, if you come in I’ll blow you away,” La Parisien reported. He was shot dead the moment he stepped out- the paper said.
