Two phases of pilot projects along IB in Jammu near completion : DG BSF (Watch Video)

Director General Border Security Force, K K Sharma on Friday said that two phases of pilot projects of smart fencing started along international border in Jammu Frontier are near to its completion and will soon be inaugurated officially.

“From Kathua to Chicken Neck, two phases of smart fencing pilot projects are nearing completion,” the DG BSF told reporters here on Friday morning at Jammu Frontier Headquarters.

The BSF chief was here in the town to review operational preparedness and progress of ongoing pilot projects along international border.

He said that the area of 5.5 kilometres and 5.3 kilometres along IB is almost covered under smart fence project and may be completed by April ending, adding, “it will soon be inaugurated officially.

Eventually yes, we will also be covering 192-km long border with smart fence but let once the pilot project be completed.

On his visit he said, “Jammu BSF Frontier is one of the important stations and operationally also it is most active as Pakistan keeps attempting infiltration, tunneling acts and ceasefire violations besides sniping our jawans.”

“We have always been giving befitting reply to the Pakistan,” he said adding that to review operational preparedness along the border as harvesting season is in offing, he had visited along the international border on Thursday.

“Simultaneously, Comprehensive Integrated Border Management System projects are also in progress in Jammu and the motive of visit was to review them because especially in April when the crop is being cut, we apprehend limited engagement with Pakistan,” he added.

“We have to keep ourselves prepared. I am happy that Jammu Frontier and Western Command are giving good results in terms of operational preparedness,” he said.

The DG BSF however, also said that Pakistani Army, Pakistani Rangers and terrorists are hand in glove with each other.

“Pakistani Army and Rangers are helping the terrorists in infiltration. Although they are denying their role at international fora but, without their help it is not possible,” he asserted.

Mr Sharma also termed Jaish-e-Mohammad and Lashkar-e-Toiba alliance as unholy while replying to a question.
