Every year allegations are made that appointments in the state’s universities are made in an adhoc manner, and ensure the absorption of influential candidates irrespective of the fact if they have the needed capabilities, skills and meet the norms. In fact many a times rules have been tweaked to appoint favourites of politicians, and those who are in the good list of the Vice Chancellors, and other senior staff of the university.

In the latest instance it has been alleged that norms were tailored to employ favourites in the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board university. Similar allegation have also rocked the Central university in Jammu which has been recently established. There have been allegations how influential and affluent candidates close to the politicians, and bureaucrats have been accommodated in the pecking order. The situation is same at the Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University in Rajouri which has been rocked by controversies.
