UNO march foiled in Kashmir; clashes ensue
Srinagar, July 29: Scores of people staged a protest near the United Nations Military Observer’s office at Gupkar road here however force personnel used tear smoke shells to disperse them once the protests started getting out of control..
Protesters raised pro-freedom slogans and sought the intervention of United Nations to resolve the Kashmir dispute.
When some of the protesters started using force themselves, they were, cane-charged by police and paramilitary forces near United nations Military Observer Group Between India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) office.
Before reaching to UN office the protesters assembled at martyrs’ graveyard situated at Dalgate from where they marched towards UN Office.
Few youth were also detained by police, eye witnesses added.
