Vaishno Devi track to have Wi-Fi facility
Jammu, August 23: In something of a moving with the times adage, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine board is about roll-out Wi-Fi services on the track to Bhawan and back. The internet Wi-Fi hotspots would be provided by Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited. The Shrine board has got permission for the same from the government.
After the completion of some formalities, the Wi-Fi services would be rolled out to the pilgrims who come from all parts of the country. Alongwith this, the pilgrims can also avail pre-paid sim cards with the validity periods of 5-7 days. Most first time visitors to J&K do not know that only Post-paid connections work in Jammu and Kashmir for security concerns and that is why the pre-paid sim cards would be handed out.
BSNL Chief General Manager, J&K Circle, HK Verma shared this information with the press.
He informed that starting from Katra till Bhawan, a total of 100 Wi-Fi Hotspots would be created so that pilgrims from outside the state can access internet as required.
He also said that just as Amarnath pilgrims can avail pre-paid sim cards with a week’s validity, the same way, Vaishno Devi pilgrims can also access the sim cards with a limited validity period.
