Vajpayee’s Demise : J&K declares 7 days mourning, holiday today

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has declared seven days mourning and holiday in all State Government offices/Boards/Corporations and educational institutions today as mark of respect to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who passed away on Thursday.

According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department here this evening, state mourning shall be observed for 7 days from 16th August to 22 August 2018 (both days included).

An order issued by the GAD states that all government offices, boards, corporations and educational institutions shall remain closed on Friday (17 August) in the memory of the departed soul.

“The State mourning will be observed for seven days from August 16 to 22, the National and State flags will fly at half mast during the State mourning on all buildings and places, where these are flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment during the period of mourning,” the order said.
