Veeri for hassle free transportation of fresh fruits
Directs adequate transport facility for timely shipping of fresh fruit outside State

SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 07: In order to ensure hassle free and better transport facilities for transportation of fresh fruits outside the State, a high level meeting was convened under the chairmanship of Minister for Horticulture and Haj & Auqaf, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri here today.
Among others, the meeting was attended by Commissioner Secretary Horticulture, Secretary CA&PD, Secretary Transport, DIG Traffic, Director Horticulture, Director Horticulture Planning & Marketing, MD SRTC and RTO, Kashmir.
The meeting deliberated upon the matters pertaining to transportation of fresh fruits from valley to outside markets besides availability of trucks during the peak season.
Mr. Veeri instructed the CA&PD department to ensure that the ration laden trucks coming from outside the State are unloaded immediately, so that the same trucks could be made available for transportation of fresh fruits.
The Minister also directed for making available additional corridor facilities for such fruit laden trucks at Lakhanpur Toll plaza and other terminals so that hassle free transportation is ensured and the fruits are shipped to destination on time.
Mr. Veeri further asked the concerned to carry out an exercise to ensure reasonable freight rates for transportation of fruits from the valley.
The Minister urged all present in meeting to work in unison to ensure improved services to the people associated with horticulture industry which forms a major part of the State’s economy.
