PAHALGAM, SEPTEMBER 17: Minister for Horticulture, Haj and Auqaf, Mr Abdul Rehman Veeri threw open the Lidder Valley Amusement Park here on Thursday.
Set up and renovated by the J&K Bank Ltd as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, the park has been built at a cost of Rs 3.20 crore.
Chairman J&K Bank, Mr Mushtaq Ahmad, Secretary Tourism, Mr Farooq Ahmad Shah, Executive President J&K Bank, Mr Parviz Ahmad, senior officers of J&K Bank, Tourism Department, large number of tourists and locals were present on the occasion.
Interacting with the media, the Minister said present government has accorded top priority to the promotion of Tourism in the state. He said footprint of high-end tourists will only improve if we take steps towards creating world class facilities at all major tourist destinations.
“We should promote tourism by creating opportunities of growth and employment in the sector,” he added while asserting the need for undertaking a massive publicity drive to promote week-end and weekday packages.
The Minister said that government is adopting a multi- pronged strategy to boost growth of the sector. He said government is investing in creating tourist infrastructure including budgeted accommodations, wayside amenities, convocation centers, TRCs etc.
The Minister said resorts will be developed in a planned way and construction for creating basic facilities for Tourists will be regulated by strictly abiding with the proper procedural norms, as laid down in the Master Plans.
The Minister appreciated the efforts of J&K Bank for developing public parks and other people oriented infrastructure in the State.
Chairman J&K Bank also spoke on the occasion and threw light on the various initiatives taken by the Bank over the years for the welfare of the people.
