Says peace, tranquility must to realize developmental goals

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 04: Minister for Horticulture, Hajj and Auqaf, Mr. Abdul Rehman Veeri today inaugurated Interpretation cum Library centre at the shrine of Hazratbal Khiram in Bijbehara.
The construction work of Interpretation center completed at a cost of Rs 88 lakh, was the part of Rs 3.79 crore project sanctioned by the Centre for development of shrine of Hazratbal Khiram. Under the project Rs 1.55 crore is also being spent for construction of dormitory and Rs 62.91 lakh for canalizing of Nahalla besides Rs 73 lakh on construction of sanitation points and other allied works at the shrine.
Director Tourism Kashmir; District Development Commissioner; Anantnag, besides other district officers were present on the occasion.
Addressing the function after inauguration of the Interpretation Center, the Minister said that upgradation of infrastructure at pilgrim sites was the priority of the government. He said a foot bridge would be also constructed over the Nalla at the shrine. He said steps would be also taken to bring shrine of Hazratbal Khiram on tourism map.
The Minister said that nowadays tourism is interlinked with promotion of other potential sectors like Horticulture, Handicrafts and Handlooms besides adventure, pilgrim and border tourism and it is the responsibility of all of us to bring complete peace and normalcy in the State for providing congenial atmosphere for not only tourism boom but other trade and commerce activities in the State.
Mr Veeri said that in view of tourism emerging as global economic force, the present government has attached much importance to this sector for employment generation and poverty alleviation. He said tourism potential in each and every area of the state including Bijbehara and its surroundings would be optimally exploited to give impetus to socio-economic activities.
The Minister said “Peace and tranquility is imperative to achieve the goal. Every citizen of the State have a right of equal opportunities of development and prosperities,” and reaffirmed government’s resolve for uniform development and equal social justice to the people in all the three regions of the State. “Our endeavour is to provide all the basic and modern facilities to the people of the backward areas at par with the cities of the State,” Veeri said.
The Minister said provision of responsive, accountable and transparent Governance is one of the top priorities of the Government adding that some new initiatives has been taken by the government to made the administration accountable before the people.
The Minister reaffirmed that being the local representative equal development of all the areas was my priority and no injustice would be done to any area of the Constituency on the developmental front. He assured the people that all their genuine developmental needs would be carry out in a phased manner. He also impressed upon the officers to solve the people’s genuine problems and developmental needs on priority.
During the tour the Minister took stock of people’s problems and developmental needs. He also inspected several ongoing projects in the area and directed concerned executing agencies for their time bound completion. He also instructed the concerned Officers to formulate action plans covering each area of the Constituency well in time for their implementation.
